Porn Church?

It’s long been said that one of the largest problems with the American church is that we’re answering questions that no one is asking.

It’s also no mystery that the adult entertainment industry is definitely answering somebody’s call. It’s a multi-billion dollar industry.

This week, the .XXX domain extension went live, and registry owners hope that adult entertainment will flock to this domain extension. Interestingly, many local universities around the country have been protecting their “brand” by purchasing these domains first. You can read an article about this trend here.

My question is this: Why in the world is the Church not taking this chance to engage people? What would it look like if your church had a .XXX domain name that pointed them to your addiction / breaking free ministry? What about creating .XXX domains that target pornographic search terms with your city name in it as well?

This is something that K2 has already been discussing in the last month, and you can be assured that this will be a part of our plan.

At the end of the day, the Church can sit on the sidelines and complain that people aren’t coming to us anymore, or, we can go out and actively engage the people and behaviors we wish to engage with. That is, unless you don’t want to engage with people that look at porn? Yeah, that’s true. Jesus definitely wouldn’t have engaged with the sinner. He’d much rather people keep it secret. Like say, in a home office.

  1. I think the Church should definitely get on that. There are lots of resources out there, like xxxChurch.com, that churches could use if they don’t have resources of their own.
